Your practice stays
on your device.
Mantra has no accounts and keeps nothing about you on its server. This page lists every time anything leaves your device, what it is, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Mantra — the app at /app/ and this website — is made by Aitele Research LLP, F-109, CRS Tower, Chattarpur, New Delhi 110074, India ("we"). This policy explains how Mantra handles information, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
On your device
Everything you enter or record — your kundali (name, birth date, time and place), settings, japa log, recordings, breath checks and Man ki Baat readings — is kept in your browser's storage (IndexedDB) on this device. Each person on a shared device has a separate database. Audio from the microphone is analysed on the device and never uploaded; a recording keeps only the timing, loudness and pitch contour of the syllables — never the sound itself.
The app also keeps its own files in the browser's offline cache, so it opens without internet, and a few small preferences in local and session storage (for example, whose space this tab is showing).
You can export a backup or erase your data at any time in Settings. Updates to the app never touch it. A PIN on a person's space keeps others on the device out of the app, but it does not encrypt the data.
The install count
When Mantra is installed, or first opened as an installed app, the device sends one random number with:
- the platform and browser family (for example, Android and Chrome),
- how it was installed (from the website, from the app, or from the home screen or browser menu),
- the local hour and weekday, and the time zone — which the server reduces to a broad region (such as India or Europe) and does not keep.
An installed app then tells the server at most once a day that it was opened, so the count can show installs still in use. The random number lets each device be counted once; it is not linked to you or to anything in your practice. The count keeps no IP address and no browser string. To limit abuse, the server holds the sending address in memory — never on disk — for at most a day, to cap how many installs one address can report.
To withdraw, turn off Count this install, anonymously in the app's Settings — the number is deleted from the server and from the total. The totals are public: press i next to the count on the home page.
Only when you ask
- Man ki Baat with Gemini. If you ask for an AI reading, your question and the reading Mantra computed for it (letters, breath, element and the praśna rules' verdict) are sent to Google's Gemini — through our server, or straight from your device if you entered your own key. Your name and birth details are not included. Our server passes the request on and keeps nothing. Google handles the request under its Gemini API terms; depending on the plan the key is on, Google may use such requests to improve its services, so do not type anything into a question that you would not want read.
- Place search. Typing a place sends the text you typed to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to find it. Choosing a place from the offline list sends nothing.
- Live location. If you turn on GPS, the position is used on the device to compute the sky and is not sent anywhere.
This website and its server
This website and the app are served by our own server. Its web log records the time, the address asked for, and a shortened form of the address the request came from — the last two parts of an IPv4 address are removed — with no browser string. We use it only to find faults and stop abuse. The log is overwritten automatically as it grows.
Our server may run outside India, for example in a Google Cloud data centre in the United States. Requests to Gemini and Open-Meteo may also be processed outside India.
Nothing else
No cookies, no advertising, no third-party analytics or trackers, no fonts or scripts loaded from other sites. We do not sell, rent or share information with anyone, because we do not hold any about you.
Your choices and rights
- See and take your data — Settings → Export backup saves everything about one person as a file.
- Correct it — edit your kundali and settings in the app at any time.
- Erase it — Settings → Erase … data on this device removes one person's data; uninstalling the app or clearing this site's data in the browser removes all of it.
- Withdraw from the count — turn off Count this install, anonymously.
- Nominate someone — because your data stays on your device, whoever you trust with the device or a backup file can manage it for you.
Since we hold nothing that identifies you, we usually cannot find "your" data on our server: the only key to an install record is the random number on your device. Write to us and we will help however we can.
Children
Mantra asks for no age and collects nothing that identifies anyone. A child on a family device gets their own space like anyone else, which a parent can manage, lock with a PIN or erase under Settings → People on this device. Please keep children with you if they use the AI readings.
Security
All traffic to and from our server uses HTTPS. Your data is protected on the device by the browser, which keeps each website's storage apart. Anyone who can unlock your device and open the browser can read it, so keep your device locked and your backup files safe.
Changes to this policy
If what Mantra sends ever changes, this page changes first, with a new date below. We will never start collecting something new without saying so here.
